President/CEO
Al Johnson
It is my primary mission to advocate and promote the economic growth and development of African American businesses by developing business opportunities, business alliances and legislative advocacy. Over the years GAACC has garnered a stellar reputation as one of Georgia’s premier African American business organization – and rightfully so!
In the past year we have excelled in the areas of business and community outreach and advocacy. Specifically, in business outreach we have provided counseling and referrals, seminars, programs, and networking events for small businesses and participated in a number of significant activities including partnering with other Atlanta, Ga. area chambers of commerce and community organizations.
My agenda is clear, it will be to advance our community ‘s businesses, particularly by strengthening opportunities for entrepreneurs. This goal reflects my lifelong interest in innovation, technology, and economic expansion. I am committed to inclusion and excellence in management of all diverse people irrespective of differences.
In addition to serving as the President and CEO for GAACC, I also served on the Board of Directors as Chair for the Nexus Academy Charter School of Atlanta, Ga. and the Board of Directors for the National Association of Woman Owned Small Business.
I’ve enjoyed a long successful information technology career and held several executive positions along the way. Before leaving the corporate world I discovered that I had a natural entrepreneur talent. My entrepreneur beginnings started as managing partner in a small construction company. I then started and sold a successful full service marketing company, and from there started and sold a cable installation company. But I found my niche helping small businesses develop and it is an honor to lead an organization that supports community, people and businesses of all sizes. It is a double honor to see the fruits of our labor fulfilled through the businesses that we support.
